PURPOSE:To obtain a novel dyestuff excellent in stability against heat and light, having high molecular absorption coefficient, capable of readily synthesizing and useful for heat-sensitive transfer materials and image display material, etc., for color filters, etc. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I [X is N(R3)(R4) (R3 and R4 are alkyl or alkenyl, etc.) or OH; Y1 and Y2 are C or N and at least one of Y1 and Y2 is C; R1 is H, halogen, etc.; R2 is an aliphatic group or an aromatic group], e.g. a compound of formula II. For example, the compound of formula II is obtained by starting from 2-amino-6-picoline and passing through 2-ethylamino-6- picoline and 2-diethylaminopicoline to afford a mixture of 5-nitro body and 3-nitro body of 2-diethylamino-nitro-6-picoline and 2-diethylaminopicoline and subjecting the mixture to catalytic hydrogen reduction to provide a compound of formula III and reacting 2 hydrochloride of the compound of formula III used as a dystuff with pivaloylacetonitrile in the presence of potassium hydroxide and ammonium persulfate. |
