POLYESTER CONJUGATE FIBER

PURPOSE:To obtain a woven fabric having a dry silk-like touch by weaving conjugate fibers each having a specific cross-sectional shape and comprising a hot water-soluble polyester and a hot water-slightly soluble polyester and subsequently thermally treating the woven fabric with hot water to dissolve off the hot water-soluble component. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate is copolymerized with 12mol.% of 5-sodium sulfoisophthalatic acid as the third component and with 25mol.% of isophthalic acid as the quaternary component to give the hot water-soluble polyester A having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.56-0.70. Polyethylene terephthalate satisfying a relation: the intrinsic viscosity of the component A -0.03< the intrinsic viscosity of the polyester B is used as the hot water-slightly soluble polyester B. The conjugate fiber having an A/B conjugate ratio of 10/90 to 30/70 and having a trilobar cross section in which the component A exists at the respective tops of the cross section as convergent segments. The conjugate fibers are woven into a habutae fabric and subsequently treated with hot water to dissolve off the polyester A.
