PURPOSE:To provide a wastewater treatment apparatus which does not need a wide surface area for installation and can decompose and remove organic pollutant in the wastewater stably at high speed. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a wastewater treatment apparatus which carries out decomposition and removal of organic pollutant biologically in aerobic condition, a porous carrier 9 which has continuous ventilative holes with cellulase resistance and which is made of mainly cellulose is put in a reaction tank 1. Consequently, due to the hydrophilicity of the cellulose and its affinity to bacterial, bacteria is stuck and attached to and immobilized in the outer surface of the carrier and surfaces of the holes at high concentration. Due to the resistance to cellulase, decomposition of cellulose by the bacteria can be prevented.
