PURPOSE:To obtain an acicular alpha-FeOOH and the producing method free from the causing of branches in the acicular alpha-FeOOH, uniform in particle shape, narrow in particle diameter distribution and improved in magnetic property as a magnetic recording material finally synthesized. CONSTITUTION:The acicular alpha-FeOOH contains 0.1-10M% (mol%) 4-valent metal of Ti<4+> and/or Sn<4+> per Fe. And the producing method is to form the acicular alpha-FeOOH by adding a solution containing 0.1-10M% 4-valent metal of Ti<4+> and/or Sn<4+> per Fe in the process for forming the acicular alpha-FeOOH by mixing a ferrous salt aq. solution with an alkaline aq. solution and charging an oxidizing gas. |
