PURPOSE:To suppress an increase in a load current to perform a printing action within a supply range of a power source by a method wherein when a load current over a supply capacity of a power source is to flow, a printing action is interrupted, thereafter being restarted in a suppression printing mode. CONSTITUTION:A one dot printing action is conducted by driving a printing head 7. Whether printing for one character is completed is judged. If printing for one character has been completed, a carriage motor 8 is driven on the basis of a value of speed data to move a carriage to a printing position for a next character. By lowering a printing speed, a value of a load current flowing to each coil, of the printing head 7 per unit time is lowered, and an electric current flowing to the carriage motor 8 is lowered. By suppressing the rapid reduction of electric charges stored in a power source 4, the power source 4 is electrically charged to keep the output voltage thereof at a supply voltage level. |
