PURPOSE:To improve the ultrasonic beam characteristics of the ultrasonic tomograph by weighting the transmission signals to be supplied to the respective vibrator elements in a probe. CONSTITUTION:A wave transmission section 3 in an ultrasonic wave transmission and reception section is constituted by parallel connecting plural signal transmission circuits 81 to 8n which are connected with power sources V1 to Vn of different voltages respectively and form the transmission signals of the amplitudes corresponding to the respective voltages and by providing this section with a changeover control section 9 which subjects the plural signal transmission circuits 81 to 8n to changeover control as to which of the signal transmission circuits is to be used according to measurement conditions so that the transmission signals Sg of the amplitudes corresponding to the different voltages are changed over at a high speed and are supplied by the plural signal transmission circuits 81 to 8n to the respective vibrator elements 11 to 1k in the probe 2. As a result, the transmission signals Sg supplied to the respective vibrator elements 11 to 1k in the probe 2 are weighted and the ultrasonic beam characteristics are improved. |
