1393553 Boots &c B F GOODRICH CO 22 Aug 1972 [23 Aug 1971] 11681/74 Divided out of 1393552 Heading A3B A boot, shoe, overshoe or the like has a bottom including a sole portion 22, a heel portion 21 and a "foxing strip", the sole and heel portions 21, 22 each having a plurality of transversely extending downwardly inclined flexible fins 25, the foxing strip having either (a) a plurality of horizontally extending flexible fins 30, 31, 32 that lie in parallel rows and slant downwardly and away from the boot as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or (b) a plurality of flexible fins 25 lying in a generally vertical plane as shown in Fig. 4. The fins trap air between themselves upon deflection and then spring back to their original shape to clean themselves if they have come into contact with mud. Thus the fin structure will inhibit the build up of mud on the bottom and sides of the boot. The vertical fins 25 may be forwardly inclined as shown in Fig. 4 or may be rearwardly inclined. The fins may have parallel surfaces as shown or may have the lobed construction described in Specification 1393552.
|
