PURPOSE:To provide a coolant composition containing a glycol and a rust preventive, in which the amount of the rust preventive, is reduced, and by which the corrosion of an aluminum metal can effectively be prevented. CONSTITUTION:The composition contains a melting point depressant selected between an alcohol and a glycol, and at least one rust preventive selected from among a phosphate, a borate, a nitrate, a molybdate, a benzoate, a silicate, a triazole, a thiazole, sebacic acid and octylic acid and further contains 0.00005-0.02wt.% (in terms of the metal atoms) calcium compound. The calcium compound added in a small amount can markedly improve the rust-preventive properties of the composition. |
