Method for the pyrolytic treatment of waste containing organic material comprising; (i) a stage for loading the waste onto transport trolley (5); (ii) a stage for inserting the loaded trolleys (5) into a treatment tunnel (2) where there is a pyrolysis chamber (21); (iii) a stage for indirectly heating the waste inside the pyrolysis chamber (21) to a temp. that causes pyrolysis; and (iv) extraction of gaseous pyrolysis products from the chamber (21); and (v) a stage for extracting the trolleys (5) from the tunnel (2) to unload the solid residues from the trolleys (5). Also claimed is a plant for treating waste containing organic material.
