1388385 Gauging SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 7 April 1972 [8 April 1971] 9134/71 Heading B3B [Also in Division G1] A known transducer 13 having a rotatable shaft 12 is fixed to a slidable lathe saddle and provides a metal roller 11 which runs along the top of a steel rod 10 mounted at its ends on a fixed part of the lathe. A casing 15 attached to the transducer houses a slidable circular block 18 which rotatably journals a grooved wheel 14 and presses it by means of a spring of bellville washers 22 against the underside of the rod 10. As the lathe saddle moves along the lathe bed, the distance moved is indicated by the transducer. Errors due to deformation of the roller 11 are corrected. |
