Compounds II are prepared by reaction of an aminopyridine with anα-isocyanate or of a pyridine-isocyanate with an amino ketone. 2,2-Diethoxyethyl isocyanate is prepared by reaction of COCl 2 with aminoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal. 2,2-Ethylenedioxybutyl-3-isocyanate is prepared similarly. 1 - (3 - Pyridyl) - 4 - carboethoxy - 5 - methyl- 2-imidazolone is prepared from 3-aminopyridine, HCHO and ethyl isonitrosoacetoacetate. The corresponding acid is prepared by hydrolysis. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound I together with a suitable excipient and are administered orally or parenterally as analgesics, and antipyretic and antiinflammatory drugs.
