OPTICAL FIBER CABLE AND PREPARATION THEREOF

PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber cable whose connection is easy and which can incorporate multiple fibers by providing specified mode field diameters and cutoff waveforms for the respective fibers against specified wavelengths, twisting the optical fibers one another or around a reinforcing member or arranging them in a length direction and combining them in the cable. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of optical fibers 1 are contained and the respective optical fibers 1 contain optical cores 3 surrounded by an optical coating 2. The respective fibers 1 are provided with the coatings 4 which are almost sealed on the optical coatings 2 and contain the coatings 5 of plastic materials on the sealed coatings. The cable contain the external protection armors of the plastic materials, which surround the optical fibers 1. The respective optical fibers 1 have the mode field diameters of 7-9μm against the wavelengths of 1550nm and the cutoff wavelengths of 1.35μm or less. The optical fibers 1 are twisted one another or around the reinforcing member or arranged in the length direction and are combined in the cable.
