A Doppler radar with pulsed transmission and with a linearly modulated carrier frequency. On reception, switching (11, 12) is made to occur in synchronism with the transmitted pulses before making the frequency change (81) which compensates for the frequency sweep. This spreads out the spectrum of the stray signals related to the switching. With advantage, on transmission, the signals applied to the conversion stage (5), placed between the linearly variable frequency generator (4) and the modulator-transmitter (3), pass through a circuit breaker (21) in the generator (4) circuit and another (22) in the local oscillator (52) circuit, these circuit breakers being controlled at the repetition frequency as are the previous circuit breakers and the modulator-transmitter. <IMAGE>
