PURPOSE:To provide the POS system which facilitates the settlement process of a large-scale store, lightens the load on the host arithmetic units, shorten the operation time of an operator, and makes it easy to confirm articles that a customer purchases and their amount of money. CONSTITUTION:A customer portable terminal 1 consists of a PLU file 1j wherein the codes of all articles and article prices are made to correspond to each other, a retrieval means 1b which retrieves article information on articles that the customer inputs, an arithmetic means 1c which performs arithmetic processing on the basis of the retrieval result, a display means 1d which displays the processing result on the screen of the customer portable terminal 1, a storage means 1k which stores the processing result, and a communication means 1f which sends the stored processing result to the host arithmetic unit 2. Further, the host arithmetic unit 2 has a communication means 2f which receives article information from the customer portable terminal 1 at the time of settlement and informs the host arithmetic unit 3 of a settlement process result and the host arithmetic unit 3 has a communication means 3e which receives transaction information from the host arithmetic unit 2. |
