A control system for a multiple-ratio power transmission mechanism comprising fluid pressure operated clutch and brake servos adapted to control the relative motion of torque delivery gear elements, a valve circuit including electrically actuated pilot valve operators for controlling pressure distribution to the servos, a pressure regulator valve system communicating with the valve circuit for any given operating condition, said regulator valve system comprising a cutback pressure valve and a coasting boost valve that are effective to modify the regulating characteristics of the regulator valve when the driven speed and engine vacuum under any given operating condition are within predetermined operating zones.
