PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and method which supply a fiber substance sample to a process unit, individually separate existents in the process unit and then transport the existents to a sensor system to a measure the characteristics of the existents of the sample in the fiber substance including impurities. CONSTITUTION: In the apparatus to measure the characteristics of existents on a fiber substance sample including at least impurities, are provided a process means, sensor means having a supply means, input and output to operate the input in a position of receiving the fiber sample from the supply means 16, process the sample for separating one by one individually the existents in the sample and supply the individually separated existents from the output and further a transport means 14 for sending the individually separated existents to the sensor means.
