PURPOSE:To easily retrieve areas in a document, in a document edition device. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a document storage means 111 holding characters comprising a document, range specification means 112 specifying the range of the storage place in the document storage means 111 corresponding to one part of the document, attribute value setting means 113 setting dissimilar attribute values corresponding to the area of the document shown by the range, attribute value storage means 114 storing the attribute value corresponding to all characters included in the range specified by the means 112, and detection means 115 detecting the change point of the attribute value by referring to the means 114 according to the direction to detect the boundary of area and outputting it as the area boundary position. |
