Device applied to a winch with radial friction drive making it possible to define a maximum tension which cannot be exceeded, while limiting slip under normal conditions. It is composed of a drive roller "RM" on its chassis, against which there is compressed, by a spring or the like "R", the driven roller "RE" secured to the winding drum and mounted on a lever "L" articulated to the chassis. The force supplied by the cable on the winding drum or on an idling pulley on "L" or an independent lever is orientated in such a way that it opposes the compression force of "R". A system or a lever equipped with a return system acts in decompression only when in abutment, at maximum tensioning, and makes it possible to obtain a visual indicator of the tensile force. <IMAGE>
