PROTECTOR AND PROTECTIVE METHOD FOR CABLE INSULATOR

PURPOSE:To protect the peripheral surface of a cable insulator positively against damage or adhesion of foreign matter during connection work of cable conductor. CONSTITUTION:The protector for cable insulator is employed in a cable connecting apparatus equipped with a jig 14 which moves a premold insulator 12 for relaxing concentration of field on the peripheral surface of a cable insulator 10b applied to the cable conductor 10a of a cable 10 and fitting the premold insulator 12 at a predetermined position. The protector is provided with a protective pipe 16 covering the part B on the peripheral surface of the cable insulator 10b where the premold insulator 12 passed and the protective pipe 16 is movable by means of the mounting jig 14.
