PURPOSE:To provide an automatic discrimination system for cache memory which recognizes information indicating which cache memory out of cache memories having many kinds of memory transfer widths and memory capacities is mounted, with respect to cache memories which are used between a main storage device and a CPU for the purpose of performing the high-speed processing. CONSTITUTION:When a test program or the like is transferred from the cache object area of a main storage device 1 to the cache non-object area to control the data transfer to cache memories 8A to 10A from the main storage device 1, data transfer widths and storage capacities of mounted cache memories 8A to 10A are recognized. This automatic discrimination system for cache memories 8A to 10A is provided with a transfer width discriminating means which discriminates arbitrary data transfer width (n) bytes ((n) is a natural number) and a storage capacity discriminating means which discriminates arbitrary data storage capacity mK bytes ((m) and K are natural numbers). |
