METHOD FOR ADJUSTING TRANSMISSION POWER IN A RADIO SYSTEM, AND AN EXCHANGE

A method for adjusting transmission power in a mobile radio system having radio cells each comprising a base station (BS1 to BS11), an exchange (TC) of the system comprising a database (DB) listing base stations subject to interference as a result of the use of a specific channel. To minimize the number of base stations subject to interference, the exchange (TC) steplessly selects the lowest possible power level for use in radio traffic between the subscriber station (MS) and the base station (BS6) on the basis of the quality of transmission from the subscriber station (MS), and commands the base station (BS6) and subscriber station (MS) to use said selected power level on a specific traffic channel; the exchange (TC) changes the number of base stations (BS1 to BS11) in the database (DB; 404) of base stations subject to interference, depending on the power level selected for said traffic channel; and the base station (BS6) and the subscriber station (MS) start to use said power level on a specific traffic channel.
