The invention proposes a retaining element for the fastening of insulating-material panels, in the case of which retaining element a sleeve (2) projects on a retaining plate (1), it being possible for a screw (3) or another fastening element to be inserted into said sleeve. For the insertion of the fastening element, the retaining plate (1) has a through-passage opening (16) which is covered by a penetrable membrane (diaphragm) (4). When mounting is complete, the head (9) of the screw (3) rests on a stop shoulder (10) of the sleeve (2) at a distance from the membrane (4). The cavity (19) present between the head (9) and membrane (4) acts as thermal insulation. <IMAGE>
