<p>An apparatus (15) for and method of machining turbine blades (10, 11, 12, 13) utilising a machining apparatus having mounting means (16) for mounting the machine adjacent to the end of a turbine blade and having a machining head (31) automatically movable in three dimensions. The machine head (35) may carry a machine tool or a probe such as a Renishaw probe which can be used to sense the shape of the desired form to feed information into a computer so that the machine may be operated automatically to machine subsequent blades. The probe may also be used after machining to check that the machine part is in accordance with the desired form.</p> |
