Optical brightening material consists of (I) a temporary carrier consisting of a shell material carrying on one side an optical brightener (II), which vaporises at 150-200 deg.C. at atm. pressure, and (III) binder, which is thermostable at temps below 250 deg.C. The material is used for the optical belaching of woven or knitted fabrics, felts, carpets, etc. Contrasting effects can readily be produced. The material is contacted with the faric etc., and heated above 150 deg.C. for a sufficient period to cause sublimation of the optical brightener, so that it penetrates the fabric, etc. |
