<p>A compressor which has a fixed scroll (2) and a movable scroll (9). The two scrolls (2, 9) have base members (11, 13) and helical walls (12, 14) formed integrally with the base members (11, 13). These scrolls (2, 9) are meshed with each other at their helical walls (12, 14). Compression chambers (16-19) are formed between the helical walls (12, 14). Owing to the revolution of the movable scroll (9), the compression chambers (16-19) are moved toward the centers of the helical walls (12, 14) as the volumes thereof are reduced, whereby the compression of a refrigerant gas is effected. The end surfaces of the helical walls (12, 14) of the fixed and movable scrolls (2, 9) are provided with grooves (52, 50). Seals (53, 51) for securing the air-tightness between the meshing base members (12, 14) are fitted in these grooves (52, 50). The height of the portion of at least one of the seals (53, 51) which projects from an end surface of the helical wall (12 or 14) is set to a level which prevents the contact of the outer circumferential end surfaces of the helical walls (12, 14) with the base members (13, 11) of the opposite scrolls (2, 9) with the movable scroll (9) in an inclined state based on an assembling tolerance between the fixed and movable scrolls (2, 9).</p> |
