The invention relates to filters containing chaff or chopped straw. The filters according to the invention comprise cylindrical inner and outer grating structures and an intermediate space between them. After being washed, chaff or chopped straw is packed into the intermediate space. The filters can be operated continuously with constant filter output, can be produced inexpensively and can be installed into a multiplicity of filter devices, independently of the filter materials used. The filters according to the invention have a high economic utility and broad industrial applicability.
