The invention relates to a release device for a friction clutch, for use in vehicles. A release device is known in which a clutch release bearing is associated with a slave cylinder such as to be coaxial with a gearbox shaft, both the clutch release bearing and the slave cylinder being arranged in axially displaceable fashion on a guide tube. The known solution requires a relatively large axial installation space and a large number of individual components. The object of the invention is to provide a release device which is of compact construction, has a long service life and can be manufactured economically. According to the invention, the release device 1 has a pressure housing 5 in which the clutch release bearing 2, the master cylinder 3 and the guide tube are integrated and which surrounds the clutch release bearing 2 in the neutral position. <IMAGE>
