In order to produce a device for transportation and for assembly of ignition coils for internal combustion engines, in particular of motor vehicles, a plurality of installation locations, which are arranged in a row, being provided primarily for ignition coils on the engine, by means of which device the transportation and assembly can be simplified and can thus be designed to be more cost effective, it is proposed that the ignition coil (1) be designed to have a planar surface on the side opposite a connection dome and have retaining tongues (3) which project transversely there, have a baseplate (4), in the form of a rail, with receptacles (5) for the flat base surface of the ignition coils (1) together with the retaining tongues (3), a closure plate (6) be held on the baseplate (4), which closure plate (6) can be moved from a release position, in which the receptacles (5) for the insertion of the base surfaces of the ignition coils (1) are released, into a closed position in which the closure plate (6) engages over the retaining tongues (3) of the ignition coils (1). <IMAGE>
