The invention relates to an apparatus for the rapid clamping of flexible printing plates on the plate cylinder of sheet-fed rotary machines. The object of the invention, namely to provide an apparatus of the generic type in which the transmission of forces, as a result of setting manipulations, to the bearing of the plate cylinder is avoided, is achieved in that, during setting manipulations, in each case one of the actuating apparatuses arranged in the frame on both sides of the plate cylinder displaces a drive element in the axial direction with a setting force, and the other of the actuating apparatuses is supported with the same force against the opposite cylinder end.
