The invention relates to a contact element (3) consisting of a flexible plaited structure (5) for magnetic powder testing of a metallic test-piece (1), the plaited structure (5) having fibres (9) and each fibre (9) having at its surface (4) a contact material (8) which is electrically conductive and essentially oxidation-resistant and has essentially no diffusion capacity for diffusion into a metallic structural material.
