The invention relates to a plated pipe, comprising a thick-walled carrier pipe consisting of carbon steel (black pipe 1) with an internally or externally plated thin-walled protective pipe consisting of stainless steel (white pipe 2). For the problem-free and reliable welding of pipes of the same type, the invention proposes that, at at least one of the two pipe ends, the white pipe (2), with a short section (4), projects axially beyond the black pipe (1) provided with a chamfer (3) and protrudes into a pipe ring (6) which is fitted thereon, is provided on the end sides of in each case one chamfer (7), whose external and internal diameters correspond approximately to those of the plated pipe (1, 2), and which consists of a solid-walled material which, in terms of the strength requirements, corresponds to the support material and, in terms of the corrosion resistance, corresponds to the plating material, the connection between the plated pipe (1, 2) and the pipe ring (6) comprising an inner and an outer connection weld seam (13, 11), the outer weld seam being offset axially somewhat with respect to the inner weld seam. <IMAGE>
