A magnetic-disk device having a large available interior space is specified. This magnetic-disk device comprises a housing, which bounds the available interior space, magnetic disks (20) arranged in the interior space, a spindle motor (21), magnetic heads (30) and a rotary drive (32). The housing comprises a cover (10) with a first flat region (100) and a first upright region (101), which protrudes upwards at a border region of the first flat region (100), and also a base part (110) with a second flat region (110) and a second upright region (111), which protrudes upwards at a border region of the second flat region. This shaping ensures adequate strength, even if the housing is of a thin design, so that the available interior space can be increased. The magnetic-disk device also comprises a printed circuit board, which is arranged on the housing and on which a control circuit for controlling the magnetic heads is fastened. A supply voltage is fed to the housing from the printed circuit board. Accordingly, the magnetic disks and the magnetic heads can be kept at the same potential via the housing. <IMAGE>
