PURPOSE:To obtain a favorable sensitizing effect, by incorporating a specified compound in a thermal color forming layer comprising a leuco dye and a color developer. CONSTITUTION:At least one compound of the formula is incorporated in a thermal color forming layer comprising a leuco dye and a color developer. The compound may be, for example, methyl beta-phenyl-alpha-cyanoacrylate, methyl beta-(o-methylphenyl)-alpha-cyanoacrylate or the like. A thermal recording material with such a construction is produced by applying a coating liquid comprising the compound of the formula, the leuco dye, the color developer and a binder as main constituents to a base such as a paper and a synthetic paper, followed by drying. The amounts of the leuco due, the color developer and a heat-fusible substance used are preferably 5-30wt%, 30-80wt% and 20-50wt%, respectively, based on the total weight of the color forming layer. In the formula, A is a benzene ring or a naphthalene ring, and each of R1 and R2 is hydrogen, a 1-4C straight chain or branched alkyl, alkoxyl or halogen. |
