PURPOSE:To prepare cultured bacterial cell (bacterial protein) useful as foods and feeds, from methanol, by the used of specific methanol-assimilable bacteria. CONSTITUTION:Bacteria belonging to Methylomonas genus and capable of assimilating methanol, e.g. Methylomonas SD-12 (FERM-P No.4440) are cultured in a medium containing methanol as main carbon source (methanol concentration; <=3%) at 15-40 deg.C and pH5.5-9.0, and the proliferated bacterial cells are separated from the medium. |
