WDM Optical communication system

An arrangement for reducing the effects of four-wave-mixing in an optically amplified wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical communication system employing dissimilar wavelength channel spacing, comprising means for effecting spectral regeneration of the optical signals at intervals along the system transmission medium. The regenerator disclosed filters cut everything except the frequencies used for communication.
