The apparatus for changing the taxi fare rate with a remocon (22) includes a memory (7) storing the fare data and connected to a CPU (8) through a number of I/O ports, function keys (6) selecting the desired function and operation of the taximeter, and a switch (24) connected to the CPU for permitting the change of taxi fare rate. The remocon for transferring the changed data includes a keypad (14), a buzzer (15) alarming when the data transfer to the taximeter is in fault, and a CPU (17) connected to the CPU of the taximeter through an interface (A).
