PURPOSE:To enable meandering of a thermal transfer carbon ribbon to be prevented with a simple construction, by a construction wherein free end edges of correcting plates are formed in the shape of the teeth of a comb, and are brought into elastic contact with a ribbon to make uniform the tension on the ribbon in the width direction. CONSTITUTION:The ribbon 1 payed out from a feed shaft 2 is passed through guide shafts 3, 4, is clamped between a platen 5 and a thermal head 6 together with a babel 7, and is taken up through a roller 8. Metallic correcting plates 9, 10 are provided in proximity to the shaft 2 and between the shafts 3, 4, respectively, with end edges 11, 12 thereof fixed to a machine frame, and U-shaped elastic pieces 15 of the free endedges 13, 14 thereof formed in the shape of the teeth of a comb are brought into contact with the ribbon 1 so as to exert predetermined elastic forces on the ribbon 1 on the path of the latter. Accordingly, the tension on the thermal transfer carbon ribbon in the moving direction can be made uniform through variations in elasticity of the entire bodies of the correcting plates, and variations of the tension in the width direction can be securely absorbed by the elastic pieces, so that the ribbon can be prevented from meandering. |
