This invention relates to a rotary drum hatch 7 for controlling access selectively to a vault 13 or to the interior of a driving cab 12 of a vehicle 1. The hatch comprises a cylindrical drum member 9 having an opening 10 and which drum is rotatable within a framework 8 which includes an external access part, a vault entry part and a driving cab entry part, a drive means for rotating the drum within the framework to position the drum in: a first position to allow an operator to enter or leave the vehicle; or in a second position to enter or leave the vault; or in a third position to enter or leave the driving cab. A message receptor means 31 receives data about the operator. A data base means 29a accepts the operator data and compares it with prerecorded data to allow or deny access to the vault or the vehicle cab. An additional control means 30a, 30b enables the operator to control the position of the drum member so to enter the driving cab or the vault. <IMAGE> |
