Preparation of novel compounds of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R1 and R2 together represent an oxygen atom or one of the symbols R1 and R2 denotes a hydrogen atom and the other denotes a hydroxy group and the symbols U, V, W and X have the meanings given in Patent Claim 1, by the following process steps: retro-Dieckmann condensation, alkaline hydrolysis of the reaction product thus obtained, decarboxylation and ether cleavage and, if desired, subsequent reduction of compounds of the formula Ia (I: in which R1 and R2 together denote an oxygen atom) to give compounds of the formula Ib (I: in which one of the symbols R1 and R2 denotes a hydrogen atom and the other denotes a hydroxy group) with the aid of complex metal hydrides. The novel compounds are distinguished compared with the natural products closely related to them by varied pharmacological actions. Thus, some of them show a pronounced spasmogenic activity, while others are distinguished by a bronchodilator action. |
