PURPOSE:To exchange a back light unit without attaching dust on the surface of a liquid crystal panel and to miniaturize the back light unit. CONSTITUTION:A diffusion plate 12 is arranged just under the liquid crystal panel 3 and a sealed space 21 is formed by the plate 12 and the panel 3. Therefore, even when a lower housing 10 is removed in order to exchange the back light unit, the sealed state of the space 21 is maintained and the dust is not attached on the lower surface of the panel 3 (to put it precisely, the lower surface of a polarizing film 2). Thus, the need of wiping-out work for eliminating the dust is eliminated and the exchanging work of the back light unit need not be executed in a clean room in order to evade the attachment of the dust. On the other hand, since the plate 12 is arranged near the panel 3, the back light unit 11 can be brought near to the panel 3 side and the effective light emitting area L of a back light can be also made small. Thus, the unit 11 is miniaturized. |
