The container has very long-lasting fluid-tightness when subjected to thermal expansions or mechanical shocks. Its closure comprises a form of junction consisting of several surfaces inclined in three different directions in order to compel the stopper, slipped onto the body (8), to be tightly held against one of these inclined surfaces (12, 14, 18, 20) taking account of the direction of the force applied by the stopper on the body (8). The principal embodiment provides for the presence of a protrusion (10) placed between two grooves (11 and 22). Application to the definitive storage of radioactive waste. <IMAGE>
