PURPOSE:To efficiently perform processings of quick discrimination of performance data, distinct data division, etc., in a short time by classifying many performance data by prescribed data structures and generating a compression rule for compression of performance data with respect to each data structure. CONSTITUTION:An electronic musical instrument 10 is provided with a ROM 12 where programs for compression of performance data and the other programs are stored, a RAM 13 which is used as a working area or the like for program execution, a disk 15 where performance data before compression is stored, and a disk 16 where performance data after compression (compressed data) is stored. A CPU 11 which reads out and executes the programs stored in the ROM 12 and a switch part 14 provided with a switch or the like which indicates the start of compression of performance data are provided. A compression rule is generated for each prescribed data structure based on many performance data, and this rule is used to compress and expand the data. |
