PURPOSE:To provide an electronic musical instrument which discriminates between normal performance (staccato) and legato performance in accordance with the key depression state of a keyboard and time intervals of key depression and executes smooth performance including no attack sounds in the case of legato performance. CONSTITUTION:The electronic musical instrument provided with a performance information input means 17 and a musical sound generating means 19 consists of a key depression state detecting means 1 which detects the change of the key depression state, a time counting means 2 which measures the elapse of time with the time, at which all of the keyboard is turned off as the result of detection of the detecting means 1, as the initial value, a performance condition discriminating means 3 which discriminates whether the duration of key depression is within a prescribed value or not based on the measurement result of the time counting means 2, a waveform storage means 5 where a waveform corresponding to the condition in the discriminating means 3 is stored, and a read control means 4 which controls selection of waveforms to be read out from the waveform storage means 5 based on the discrimination result of the discriminating means 3. |
