PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display device constituted so that brightness can be uniformized and increased extending over the whole area of a display screen without increasing the consumption of a current. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a liquid crystal display element 10 and a stimulable phosphor layer 32 disposed by being faced to the element 10. Besides, an ultraviolet lamp 14 allowing the layer 32 to emit light is provided on an opposite side to the element 10 with interposed the layer 32. The layer 32 is constituted by laminating fluorescent coating-material layers 32a, 32b and 32c whose fluorescent density is different and formed so that the fluorescent density becomes higher toward the part separated from the ultraviolet light source. |
