The invention relates to a defective circuit indicator with a spherical display device (22). A permanent magnet (42), fixed within the display device (22), is in magnetic communication with an electro-magnet (40) and is actuated in rotation by the latter. The spherical display device (22) has two hemispheres of different colours representing two states of the circuit. The electromagnet (40) includes a magnetic core (44) and a coil assembly (50, 52) and is magnetised by a current pulse received from a circuit of the indicator. Application to indicators of the appearance of a defective electric current in an electrical conductor. <IMAGE>
