PURPOSE: To form a direct positive photographic image by developing a photosensitive silver halide photographic material in the presence of a developing nucleus agent not causing uneven development and to obtain a photosensitive silver halide photographic material for forming a direct positive image having high max. density and low min. density. CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive silver halide photographic material with a substrate and an internal latent image type silver halide emulsion layer whose pAg has been regulated to 9.0-10.5 before coating is imagewise exposed and developed in a surface developing soln. in the presence of a developing nucleus agent having a silver halide adsorption group in each molecule. When the developing nucleus agent is a hydrazine compd. having a 7-hydroxy-s-triazolo-[1,5-a]- pyrimidine group as a group accelerating adsorption on silver halide, advantageousness is ensured.
