The picking utensil comprises a member for cutting the peduncle, associated with a pinching member which allows the plant to be held after the peduncle has been cut (sheared off). The cutting and pinching member consists of a tube (3) and of a cylinder (5) given a rotational movement. The peduncle is positioned in an opening (11) made at the end of the cylinder (5) between the jaw (9) and the anvil (10) and also between the cutter (6) and the jaw (7). Rotation of the cylinder (5) under the effect of a trigger (23) firstly cuts the peduncle (15) between the cutter (6) and the anvil (10) and, secondly, pinches the said peduncle between the fixed jaw (7) and the moving jaw (9). <IMAGE>
