PURPOSE:To provide a distance detector which corrects the error due to the change of the centroid of reflected light from a material as the measurement object to detect the distance with a high precision even in the case that this reflected light is partially dropped out and has the centroid chaged. CONSTITUTION:An infrared light emitting diode 12 is made emit light, and light reception positions of the reflected light made incident on one-dimensional position detecting elements 16 and 21 are detected independently of each other, and a light reception position A is measured to store position data A. A signal is inputted from the one-dimensional position detecting element 21, and a light reception signal B is measured to store position data B. Correction data C corresponding to drop-out degree data B is collated with a data table. A distance measurement data correction means 39 subjects position data A corresponding to distance measurement data to correction processing by correction data C corresponding to the drop-out degree to determine the subject distance. Even when the reflected light from an object 18 is omitted and the centroid of reflected light made incident on the one-dimensional position detecting element 16 is deviated, the accurate subject distance is obtained. |
