The mandibular dental prosthesis is composed of a metal reinforcement (1) whose shape is adapted to suit each particular lower jaw and which shows a U shape in cross-section and top view, a plastic prosthesis body (3) fixed on the metal reinforcement (1) and accommodating the artificial teeth (2), and a permanently soft relining (4) of silicone rubber or the like vulcanised under the metal reinforcement (1). The edges (5) of the metal reinforcement (1) are drawn downwards as far as the mucolabial fold (7) of the jaw so as to form an outwardly sealed pressure chamber (6) for the relining (4), and the relining (4) has a maximum hardness of 20 Shore A which results in optimum adaptation of the relining (4) to the mandible with high adhesive power. <IMAGE>
