To prevent cracking in the region of joints between different materials on masonry or a house facade, or in the overlying coatings, plaster or insulating layers, it is proposed that there be arranged in the region of the material joint (1), along and on top of the latter, a sliding band (6) which is substantially non-adhesive or only weakly adhesive on the masonry, in such a way that each strip of the materials (2, 3) is covered on both sides along the joint (1) by the band (6), the said band and the masonry being covered by at least one coating (8).
